First of all, I apologize for not updating this site the past months, there simply hasn’t been much new in Bana-land. I’ve also been busy with other online- as well as offline-duties. Secondly, Eric’s rumored to star in a new movie and I’m very excited for that (I’m sure you are as well)! And last, but not least, I have added HD screen captures from Star Trek to the gallery! Eric will not return for Star Trek sequel

According to MovieWeb.com, Eric himself confirmed that he will not reprise his role as Nero in the Star Trek sequel. Check out the piece of news below for more information!

Today we caught up with actor Eric Bana, who was promoting his upcoming film The Time Traveler’s Wife, and he revealed that his role in one of the year’s biggest films was a one-time-only deal. Bana confirmed to us exclusively that he will not reprise his Nero character in a sequel to Star Trek.

We reported last month that Star Trek writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have already begun planning the script to the sequel, but they never mentioned Nero specifically and it seems that Bana will not come back for the part.

We’ll certainly keep you posted on any and all breaking news items dealing with a Star Trek sequel as soon as we have more information. The Time Traveler’s Wife stars Eric Bana, Rachel McAdams, Ron Livingston, Jane McLean and will be released nationwide on August 14.

Star Trek’s Big Box-Office Bang

J.J. Abrams’ retooled, timeline-tweaking Star Trek scored an estimated $72.5 million Friday-Sunday opening weekend, Exhibitor Relations reported today, coming in on the high side of projections and blowing past previous franchise hits—and misses.

Since bowing Thursday night, Star Trek has grossed $76.5 million overall.

“An opening like this definitely indicates that moviegoers outside the core base of Trekkies showed up,” Exhibitor Relations box-office analyst Jeff Bock said in an email.

Below is a complete look at the weekend’s top-grossing films based on Friday-Sunday estimates as compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

Star Trek, $72.5 million
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, $27 million
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, $10.5 million
Obsessed, $6.6 million

Star Trek takes an estimated $31 million by Friday

According to Variety, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek had taken an estimated $31 million by Friday, giving Paramount its’ second highest opening day ever at the box office for a live-action film.

Playing at 3,849 theaters, Star Trek ranked behind the first day gross of Paramount’s Iron Man which made $38.7 million last May. Included in that figure was $4 million of Thursday evening and midnight runs. Previewing on a bulk of its entire theater count at 7 p.m., Star Trek accumulated $7 million on Thursday.

Star Trek Takes in $7 Million in First Day

According to MovieWeb.com, a new sci-fi remake is on track for a blockbuster opening weekend after the first night’s tally is in. According to Variety, Star Trek took in an estimated $7 million from Thursday night screenings.

Last year, Iron Man opened in a similar Thursday night frame and it took in just over $4 million on its opening night, en route to a $102.1 million opening weekend. Last weekend, X-Men Origins: Wolverine took in $5 million from midnight screenings and $85 million throughout the weekend.

It was said, however, that analysts aren’t expecting Star Trek to surpass X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s box office mark last weekend, but we’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out for sure.

Los Angeles premiere of Star Trek tonight

The grand Los Angeles premiere of Star Trek will be held tonight at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood! All the stars of the film is expected to walk the red carpet; hopefully that includes Eric Bana. If so, check back tomorrow for full coverage from the premiere. Stay tuned!
