Austrailian actor, Eric Bana, is known for his serious roles such as Hector in Troy and Nero in the new Star Trek film. However, fans of his recent work may not know that Bana does have a funny side as well. Before his career took off, Bana was more of a comedic actor who did impeccable impressions of other famous celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Columbo and Sylvester Stallone.

His comedic career took off after appearing on the late night talk show, Tonight Live. This is where Bana caught the attention of the producers from the sketch comedy series, Full Frontal. He was asked to join the crew as both a writer and actor. He even recorded his own comedy album, “Out of Bounds.” His success on Full Frontal led to Bana having his own comedic sketch show, “Eric.” However due to low rating, the series was cut short after only eight episodes. Despite the short-lived show, he did receive a Logie Award for “Most Popular Comedy Personality.”

Even though Bana plays more serious and dramatic roles now, he still takes the time to let his comedic side out. In 2007 right after filming the very serious and critically acclaimed film, Munich, Bana filmed a romantic comedy titled, Lucky You. His most current and American mainstream comedic appearance is in Judd Apatow’s, Funny People.
